JinJiang Stable Technical MFG Co.Ltd was a company which focus on the cold forming by press and stamping production process.
Our main products was engine oil pan ,transmission oil sump ,truck rear sump,we had 30 year press drawing technical knowledge.We were the auto part company which focus on the stamping welding bending injection die casting for almost 30years Our main product was engine oil pan, transmission oil filter, transmission oil pan, dipstick ,oil pickup tube.plastic part ,die casting injection part,

All the oil pan was made by the steel sheet plate.The thickness can be from 0.8mm to 4mm.
The capactiy of the engine oil pan can be reach to length at 1800mm ,width:800mm with heigh:600mm

1.Raw material steel sheet coil incoming test
We would like to show you step by step about how the truck rear sump being produced in our company 
Every single of oil pan or oil sump was made by steel sheet plate,So the first step of the production was the raw material inspection ,we do the inspection of oil pan steel sheet plate by chemical composition,Mechanical properties,
Every steel sheet had its Tensile strength, yield strength, elongation,every different of the coil had different Mechanical properties,The key of the press deep drawing for the oil pan was the elongation,we always use the raw material with elongation over 25%,Hereby in China we called this type of raw material as DC06.

2.Decoiling for the steel coil
The raw material steel sheet was bring into warehouse by the coil ,to make the transport for raw material much more convenience,the steel company always use steel coil shipped to the customer with Material certificate.
So when we got the raw material from steel company ,the first thing was testing and the next step was decoiling for the steel coil.

3.Stamping workshop for engine oil pan drawing 
when we press deep drawing the engine oil pan,most of the pan make the drawing by twice ,the reason why we do that was incase the raw material broken by once a time ,so when we drawing the steel sheet for the first time for truck rear oil sump ,we put it them in Static for release of stress then we make the second drawing again

A lot of customer think that was amazing about how to drawing a oil pan from a steel sheet plate to a pan shape ,the key to that was the stamping press mold .
4.Engine oil sump Stamping mold production Setup- get data from the steel stampin oil sump
When we got a project for a rear engine oil sump for truck or for car ,the first step was set up a project team ,we call it as APQP ,Stable Technical MFG always follow the TS 16949 ,IATF 16949 is an international standard for automotive management systems that is a widely adopted and standardized quality management system.
The core team typically consists of representatives from different functions, such as engineering, quality, manufacturing, purchasing, sales, and customer service.

The key functions for engineering was design the drawing for oil pan ,then the mold ,how to make it ,how to control the tolerance.

To get the data from the engine oil sump ,there was two way ,the most easy one was by 3D scanning ,we take the equipment from creamform (Portable, metrology-grade 3D scanners  accuracy, resolution, reliability and fast data acquisition).

4.1 Stamping press mold design 
After we got the data from the scanner by stl format we will import it into the Design X ,Solidwork ,UG ,transfer it to 3D mold.Then we get the 2D drawing for production .
The 2D drawing was contain the size ,shape ,tolerance ,raw material inside and we sent to the customer for approved

4.2 The simulation of the oil pan deep drawing production process
 
To get the stp file input for simulation ,there were two ways:1.get the 2D file from customer ,2,reverse the engineering .

After the engine oil sump mold was completed design ,we need to go though the simulation for the engine oil pan as deep drawing production process.
We save the 3D from the UG and output as stp file ,then we input the stp file into the just stamping simulation software to review if the pan was crack during the drawing process
The purpose of the simulation was short the leadtime for development and save the cost for customer when design the oil pan or oil sump
The red area of the simulation result as above for the engine oil pan was there was a big chance to crack ,the blue area mean the oil pan will be short of raw material ,so when we can decide the blanking size for the oil pan before we input the real production 
4.3 Oil pan deep drawing mold production by casting and CNC machine 

The first step to production the engine oil pan mold was the casting production process ,normally it was by the sand casting for the mold frame and support ,usually a stamping mold was combine by two part ,core steel mold for the shap of the oil pan and the frame to support on the press stamping machine 

To get the core for the rear oil sump we take the fast way by the CNC machine then go ahead with the polishing process by hand so that surface of the mold didnot make too much scratch of the truck oil sump ,then we assemble the core and the frame together to go ahead with trail production of the oil pan sample .

4.3 CMM inspectionfor the critical dimension of the pan

Whatever is the inspection gauge or the oil pan mold we need to go though the CMM inspection before we put into production 
The critical dimension need to go though the CMM test to get the tolerance for the oil pan mold we design 
Every oil pan had tolerance ,the best way to keep the tolerance as much more strictly than the drawing call out ,so once the steel spring back it was still under the tolerance requirement .
For the first sample of the oil pan we also need it to go thought by CMM for all the bolts holes.then we get the inspection report to save for the future use 
It was a procedure require by quality control system 16949.
5. Trial production for engine oil pan

The reason why we need to go though trail production was to test the mold if it can go though well production .To check all the critical dimension under the control,to get the oil pan so that we can go though test by CMM for the engine oil pan bolts holes and leaking test .

The oil pan need a lot of space to save for storage .
So we use a lot of steel frame crate to storage the engine oil pan and oil sump for truck and car
Most of the oil pan and oil sump need about 5 production process for the stamping and pressing ,so we need a lot of space to made the transfer during different production process.
6. Welding for the reinforcement and baffle
There were two kinds of the place for engine oil pan need to be apply for the spot welding :baffle and reinforcement ,because baffle just need to attach on the oil pan without too much strength so we use the spot welidng insted of the shield welding

Most of the engine oil pan had the baffle and some kinds of the engine oil sump need reinforcement 
To made them attch on the oil pan ,the shield welding was not the best choice so we adopt the spot welding machine ,some of them called it as resistance welding.
The reason why we used the robot spot welding machine for the oil sump was because we didnot need to turn the oil pan up and down to do the resistance welding for baffle and reinforcement.
6. Shield welding for the extra package of the oil pan 
Some of the engine block need more lubrication oil because it need high horsepower performed,so they may need extra lubrication oil to storage inside the oil pan .
Some of the engine block due to the space limit and need to make it as different type so we cant make the press drawing once a time it also need the extra package .

To make the main oil pan and the storage oil package well attachment as one piece so we need to use shield welding also some of us called it as CO2 welding .
The most advantage of the shield welding was it can seal from the oil to leak outside.
The shield welding was the main reason why we need to do the leaking test after all production process was done and before the surfacement such as like the power coating or Electrophoresis
7. Oil plug welding onto the engine oil sump
When we need to replace the lubrication oil inside the oil pan ,we need the oil plug to release the old oil and input the new oil inside .that was why we need a oil plug seat on the oil pan ,
Some of us may just curious about the seat of the pan ,why dont we need to full welding as by sheild welding ,the top secret for the seat without leaking the oil was the brass oil ring 
As you can see blow ,the oil plug seat welding on the bottom of the engine oil pan , we make the torque for the plug and keep the brass ring as tight as possible with the engine oil sump.

8. Leaking test after the oil seat and plug fitment on the oil pan 
The reason why we need the leaking test process was the welding and stamping ,pressing ,we need to make sure every engine oil pan from our factory 100% seal without any leak
1.2Bar 30 second under the water ,with cover all the open area similar to the engine block mounting ,The machine take the engine oil sump or oil pan under water .so we can clear see the bubble if the oil pan was leaking .

9. 3D laser cutting machine for the sample

When we produce the sample or at the stage of trail production we need to make it much more faster without stamping mold dies.
That was why we take the 3D laser cutting machine inside to take off the raw material we didnot need on the engine oil pan or sump ,make it as the shape we need for the next stamping pressing production process.
The capacity of the 3D laser cutting machine can support the thickness of plates over 4mm.
10.Surface treatment for the engine oil pan

The last step for the engine oil pan was the surface treatment 
The engine oil pan or oil sump was at the bottom of the car or truck ,so it meet a lot of situcation ,we need to make engine oil pan without rust by well power coating or Electrophoresis
We also do the salt and spry test for the engine oil pan after coating ,the common requirement for the engine oil pan was 5% salt environment spry over 480h without white and red rust .
