We would like to share with our production about engine oil dipstick or transmission oil dipstick 

The engine oil dipstick also named as engine oil level measure gauge,it belong to engine lubrication system .
The function of engine oil dipstick was to measure the lubrication oil level inside the oil pan .It monitor the oil inside the engine oil pan and decide the time when we replace our engine lubrication oil .It was a tool to check our lubrication oil need to replace or to knew the oil was less than work situation 

Normally the dipstick had a mark by stamping or laser marking as max and min or two holes as top and bottom level

Some of oil dipstick handle was made by plastic and some of them was made by steel tube.the strip of the engine oil dipstick was made by the Carbon steel 65Mn or stainless steel strip.

Normally engine oil dipstick was produce according to below

The auto coolant pipe and oil pickup tube was produce as similar with the oil dipstick tube

1.Raw material steel sheet coil incoming test specification

The handle which customer perfect as steel tube was made by seamless pipe ,it always come with the bluk batch and the strip also
The metal bracket was made by the steel sheet plate
The stainless steel strip was raw material as 301 it was cutting to the proper length.

Every seamless tube and steel sheet need to go though Tensile strength, yield strength, elongation test
Every different of the coil had different Mechanical properties,The key of the press deep drawing and tube bending for the engine oil pickup tube

2.The raw material incoming test ,the raw material was the key for the production ,we so need to take serious for the seamless tube and steel sheet plate for the engine oil pickup tube oil screen engine oil strainer.There were two kinds of things we were focus on :Chemical composition and Mechanical properties1.
3.Keep test record for tracking
If the seamless tube and steel sheet plate pass the Chemical composition and Mechanical properties test ,we will print out the test result data and storage within 2 year as tracking information for the automotive TS 16949 called out.

But we also the dipstick made by the plastic handle,we put the raw material of PP inside the plastic injection machine with strip ,then press the buttom ,the injection close with the plastic injection mold dies ,and come out with the handle of the engine oil dipstick handle

4.Engine oil dipstick handle and strip connection
Some of the customer may ask when we drawing force of the plastic handle and engine oil dipstick strip

Normally the drawing called out for engine oil dipstick handle and strip most drawing requirement was 300N without two part seperate.
Sometime we need the drawing force more than than ,so we will use the a steel pin to increase the drawing force inside the handle use the stamping machine to push the pin between the handle and strip.

5.Engine oil dipstick tip production 
Some of the engine oil dipstick end need a plastic end of zinc end .In case the tip of the engine oil dipstick clutch stop at the engine oil dipstick tube ,we may need a small lead guide on the end tip .

 

6.Dipstick tube bracket production
When we prepared the thread on the dipstick pipe ,we go ahead the stamping metal bracket at the same time.
The stamping workshop can carry out a lot of kind process ,whatever the shape of the customer want ,we can make it done within this workshop ,sometime we name it as steel sheet flow workshop to make the steel sheet into the shape we need ,the most important things was keep the tolerance under control :oil pickup head cap ,the connect port for the oil pickup tube .the engine oil pan mounting bolt holes.
7.Bending dipstick tube
After the machining of the seamless tube for total length of engine outlet metal pipe ,we will go ahead with the bending production process within bending workshop,

The bending production process was a key process for the Ening auto coolant or engine dipstick pipe ,We need to make the seamless pipe to be the shape as we need .So after the bending of the steel pipe to the shape we need ,we will 
use the shape gauge to do the inspection for the steel pipe before to go ahead with next production process.

Maybe some people will ask why dont we use the welding seam tube instead of the seamless tube ,the raw material cost was much more cheaper .
That was such a good question about raw material ,let`s image that when the steel pipe move to the process of bending ,the first inner of the oil pickup tube will increase the thickness on the other side on the opposite the steel pipe will become thinning,during the steel pipe thickness flow ,there maybe a huge possibility that the steel pipe will be crack.So normally we use the seamless pipe instead of the welding pipe to produce the Engine oil pickup tube.

8.Engine dipstick tube bracket Welding brazing welding,After the Steel pipe for engine oil pickup tube was bending and the cap was stamping ,we will make two part connect by brass welding or braze

There were many kinds of the welding :shield welding ,TIG welding ,Braze ,the most Efficient way was by the braze welding ,not matter the appearance or the leaking test ,the Braze give out the best performance 
For the sample and prototype of the engine oil pickup tube ,oil pump screen ,oil strainer ,Engine water coolant pipe ,we will use the manual braze welding ,once the customer approved the sample ,the production process will change the auto Braze.
9.Coating for the dipstick tube pipe
Once the welding was ready ,we will move to the zinc coating production process to protect the engine oil pickup to be rust and improve the appearance.let me show you some photo of the coating production process for you to ref.
10.Leaking test,the leaking test was done under 1.2Bar 30 second by water or the air pressure gauge 

We make a lot of rubber plug to seal the end of the engine oil pickup tube ,oil pump screen ,engine coolant pipe 
We add the air pressure to 1.2Bar and keep the eye on monitor ,if the indicator keep at 1.2Bar then we consider this part was ok ,but if indicator was suddent drop down ,we will put the engine oil pickup tube on side to rework it by welding or check the leaking point by water pressure .

To develop a engine oil pickup tube ,we need the sample or the drawing from the customer,then we collect the data from the sample ,once the sample data was collect by the handly scanner machine ,we will create the drawing by solidwork ,ug 
 

Then we go ahead with the bending mold and stamping mold for the oil pump screen

To get the stamping mold and bending mold for customer we take the fast way by the CNC machine then go ahead with the polishing process by hand so that surface of the mold didnot make too much scratch of the oil pump screen cup and round up process ,then we assemble the core and the frame together to go ahead with trail production of the oil  pump screen sample .
